Development of this game. From start to finish
Hello, this is Knightbot63 here. You might have known me from Scratch and other things. But let’s get to the topic. First, the development process of the game was quite a hassle. I decided to make a game similar to SimCity as I’ve replayed the game after a long time. On March 5th, the development of the game started and the deadline to release the game was on April 25th. Not only did I want to make the deadline a challenge but the whole thing in general. I wanted to make one script that was the entire game (except the title screen, land generation, etc.) I had @wolfieboy09 help me on the project as a quickstart. After a while, I was doing all of the work. I wanted to make the game colorful but still use the NES color palette. Yes, I’ve broken some colors to add some extra detail but 90% of the game uses that color palette. The tiles I arranged were a bit painful to set up but eventually I got the hang of it. At the time, I wanted to use Isabelle from Animal Crossing as my guide, however, I was concerned about copyright infrigement so I changed it to a self-insert character named Mr. G. In the demo, I didn’t add him in so he talks through the OS’s dialog box.
Will there be a Scratch port? When I started the project, I asked @wolfieboy09 if it was a good idea. If I recall, he told me to go ahead but wait until the computer version was made. However, I can’t start until I get unbanned from Scratch. I think development on the Scratch port won’t be as great as the regular project but it’s worth a shot.
